About the Artwork:
“I painted this piece as a response to an article that resonated with me personally and very profoundly. It uncovered and exposed the darker realities behind many of the beautifully produced nature documentaries including the recent Planet Earth II. These documentaries take place in pristine environments and feature animals in dramatic Hollywood type scripts. We are entertained by the incredible footage and advances in film drone technology but it’s far from the truth. Many of the animals featured in these docs are on the threatened and endangered lists. The environments featured are tiny pockets and shrinking because of human encroachment and climate change. And these docs fail to mention the biggest threat to that world – homo sapiens.” – Chris Buzelli

After graduating from Rhode Island School of Design, I moved to New York City and began my career as an illustrator. Fortunately my oil paintings have appeared in many national publications, books and projects for design firms/advertising agencies. Currently I also show my original paintings in various galleries throughout the US and teach once a week at RISD and SVA. I live with my wife, SooJin, and mini-pinscher, Sota.
