About the Artwork:
”Shibari’ is a continuation of a series of half-monster, half-femme fatales that have been developing over the years. These figures reflect influences from films like ‘Akira’ and John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing’, as well as an affinity for fairy tale monsters and trolls. ‘Shibari’ and its sister pieces are a commentary on beauty standards in our modern culture, where women are viewed and judged as sexual objects even though their beauty may be skin-deep.’ – Allison Reimold
