About the Artwork:
“Both of my contributions to the ‘MicroVisions’ show are about ‘coral’. They show peculiarities that can produce coral on human beings. One is negative and the other is postive. This drawing, ‘The Cursed Sailor’, is the negative piece and illustrates a curse that touches sailors, turning them into creatures of the sea.” – Nicolas Degaudenzi
About the Artist:
(Artist Bio)
Nicolas Degaudenzi is a 23-year-old Swiss illustrator who completed his training at the EPAC (Professional School of Contemmporary Art) in Saxon, Valais in 2015 and is now an independent illustrator.
In his work, he experiments with different mediums including digital, along with traditional drawing and painting. Whatever the medium, his distinct universe is always recognisable. In a refined style, which at first reading, may seem cold, he tells poetic and modern stories by attaching great importance to the graphics of his images. His naive and enigmatic characters are in search of poetic answers in opposition to the austere universe in which they evolve.
Fantastic universes and science-fiction are the first major influences of his works, these references also draw on pop-culture, manga, video games and graphics.
