About the Artwork:
“It seemed every book of supernatural phenomenon I devoured from my school library growing up contained a section on spontaneous human combustion. This is apparently where a human bursts into flames through some kind of paranormal internal combustion, consuming most of the body but leaving the surrounding area largely untouched by the flames. Seeing those photos of just two pale legs left behind, while the rest of the body was reduced to ash has stayed with me all these years. Now it has found its way into this drawing. Of course with all SHC cases there must be an overlooked external source of ignition that started the fire, here it seems that the match in the painting was the likely cause. Or was it framed? The rabbit was spared from the flames but had already paid the price for his good fortune. He had to be unlucky to become lucky. And what of the owner of the chair? Where did the flames carry him? Not to the pages of some book on a shelf. He wouldn’t be that lucky having left his charmed limbs behind.” – Gloombrow
