About the Artwork:

“Crows are considered symbols of transformation and adaptability. I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately – the change from winter to spring, the transition from the last couple of years to (hopefully!) something better. The Pied Crow is an African bird used to a warm climate. Placing him in that frozen environment with the northern lights seems like a good metaphor for the situation so many of us have found ourselves in, and the ways we’ve had to adapt. The title of the painting comes from a Nick Drake song. It’s a really beautiful song that’s also about transformation and hope.” – Johannah O’Donnell
