About the Artwork:
“With this painting I wanted to represent my vision of tengu, monsters belonging to Japanese folklore (Yokai). My representation takes more inspiration from the most ‘ancient’ tengu (human beings with a bird face, equipped with wings and claws) but I kept the feature that they carry a tokin (monks headgear) on their head and they wear ipponba geta, sandals used to walk through the mountains.” – Etara
