About the Artist:
(Artist Bio)
I’m Chloe, a learning & development specialist turned illustrator.
At 15yrs old, I was commissioned to illustrate a comic book titled ‘Le Géant Beaupré’, to be used as a pedagogical guide in Western-Canadian high schools for teaching French as a second language. Encouraged by this, I aspired to pursue studies in the arts.
While working as a graphic designer, I grew interested in the Adult Learning and Professional Development field, and thereafter switched careers. In my fifties, I started Longstride Illustration (in May of 2022) as a way to connect my two passions for continuous learning and for drawing.
My mission is to create and share instructional content for anyone who wants to get into pen & ink and improve fundamental drawing skills. As well to leverage the potential of self-directed learning as an artist when exploring something new or else aiming to progress toward mastery.
My illustrations are primarily hand drawn in black and white using various pens and brushes. I’m most inspired when drawing birds, nature and characters.
Some of my art heroes who have influenced my pen style include Grzegorz Rosiński, Bernie Wrightson, Kentaro Miura, Takehiko Inoue, and Franklin Booth.
