Andrew K. Currey’s work explores our understanding of vulnerability, its display, concealment, and acceptance on a cultural level. This series of work depicts small battle scenes and depictions of conflict that illustrate the elaborate, theatrical dramatization of daily struggles and internal anxieties, while highlighting the beauty of confronting the calamity as an act of heroism.
Andrew K. Currey received his Bachelors in Fine Arts at the University of North Texas in Denton, Tx. He studied classical art restoration at the Lorenzo D’Medici School in Florence, Italy and later went to Otis College of Art and Design, where he earned his Masters in Fine Arts. In 2014 he was the Artist-In-Residence of Shankill Castle in Paulstown, Ireland. Andrew lives and works as an artist in Los Angeles, California creating drawings for galleries, museums, and graphic novels. His work has been featured at Roq La Rue Gallery (Seattle, WA), Haven Gallery (New York, NY), Archenemy Arts (Philladeplhia, PA), and most recently as a variant cover artist for “Something is Killing the Children” by James Tynion IV, published by Boom!Studios.
