About the Artwork:
Her life has been a series of selfless acts, starting off small and then gradually training her to put herself last. Now in adulthood, the woman has given so much of herself to others she is left now with absences; holes and gaps in her body and self. One day, she reached a point where there was nothing left to give, and in this moment she was finally set free.

Gina Altadonna was raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, a rural farming community. In 2010 she received a BFA in drawing and painting from the Pennsylvania State University and in 2014 She received her MFA in studio art from Stony Brook University. Since graduating she has participated in solo and group shows both nationally and internationally. She has received several awards and fellowships and has been interviewed and published in several different art publications. She is currently an Adjunct Professor in Illustration at The Moore College of Art and Design as well as a full time practicing artist and mother.
