About the Artwork:

This painting is inspired by the concept of cleaning out toxic thoughts from our minds. The green is a representation of the negative thoughts we internalize. Purging these thoughts can give us new insight into who we really are. – Santos Shelton

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Santos is an artist born and raised in the Bay Area, currently based in Oakland, CA. Art has always been a necessity for Santos, a way to foster his love of storytelling, science, and fantasy. Painting and drawing has also functioned as an outlet to help him understand the world around him and focus his thoughts and feelings. Santos uses bold colors, shapes, textures, and patterns tempered with abstract expression to create paintings that evoke emotion. These elements form into fantastic beings and planets rooted in his imagination. Together they make vibrant representations of self-expression while serving as a platform to discuss topics inspired by the Santos’s life. His work focuses on addressing the vulnerabilities and trauma we experience: how they shape us and how we heal and grow from trauma. Santos’s work attempts to illuminate the deep connections we all share through these experiences, while coming to terms with his own.
