About the Artwork:

A day drawn closed, its nesting time

You’re 40 minutes down the line

A tired child starts to rage

Cooped up in a moving cage

An iPad game, assuages tempers!

Also ruffles stuffy feathers

But if you don’t and tempers swell,

They’ll judge you based on that as well

The flock will squawk and peck and coo

No matter what you chose to do

So never let their judgements stick,

For brooding hens will always pick

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Kayla Neufeld Gowans (b.1990) is an emerging artist living in Agassiz BC. Her figurative artworks are deeply inspired by her journey as a mother in the modern world. Kayla uses oil and acrylic paints to explore the surrealism that is inherent in the world around her.

Although she has no formal training, her passion to create has led her through thousands of hours of tutorials, experimentation and self discovery. Through the process of trial and error, Kayla’s unique style and artistic voice are beginning to emerge.

The greatest irony of her life is that, as a mother to two children under 5, she has never been more inspired to create, but she has also never had less time to do anything.
