About the Artwork:

When I was painting this piece, I was thinking a lot about our ability to adapt and accept change. Though her surroundings are crumbling, the woman in the painting continues to look serene. Even she, herself, is becoming part of the landscape. It reminds me of the level of endurance that we can mine from within ourselves. I am ceaselessly amazed at the strength and resilience of the people around me. Even when things are really dark, we always find a way to capture the light. – Amanda Grieve
