About the Artwork:
“This painting wasn’t initially conceived with any particular theme in mind. Basically, I rounded up a bunch of reference images that spoke to me and tried out different compositions until I found something that felt right. I think it works well as commentary on artifice – the wall of artificial flowers obstructing the deeper, more naturalistic landscape behind it. It also recalls hints at the passing of time/change of seasons (thus the title), something that’s definitely on my mind here in eternally hot Florida. And cats are always so much fun to paint. Their facial proportions are so similar to human beings, it makes them very relatable.” – Johannah O’Donnell
