“Growing up in Iowa, I spent countless summer nights catching fireflies (or lightning bugs, as we called them). Created with colored pencils on bright yellow paper, Nocturne is my attempt to capture the feeling of a warm summer night.” – Brian Britigan

About the Artist:

Brian Britigan is a Brooklyn-based artist and illustrator. Born and raised in Iowa City, IA, he studied art and animation at the University of Washington in Seattle before earning his MFA in illustration from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Whether created for gallery shows or publications, Brian’s work combines bold colors and compositions with a detail-driven approach. His images have been featured by The Stranger, The Portland Mercury, and The New York Times and have received recognition from Communication Arts, Spectrum, Creative Quarterly, and the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles.
