About the Artwork:
“The interconnected globe, vast webs of mycelium expanding at an impossibly fast pace. Filling every single corner of our mind with more information than we can possibly process. Our cyclicality isn’t traveling at high speed on a recently paved, smooth concrete road. No, we experience every single bump and pothole. The foundation of our being worn further until the first hairline fractures paved the way to a flood of the most marvelous and fascinating entities ever to be conjured up. Sure, you’ll wake up with quite the headache, but at least you’ll have a story to tell… and more.”
Samsara Snap is a study in the topology of composition and an experiment in narrative. Inspired by ancient Indian and Asian Miniature paintings, Medieval European manuscripts and historical maps. This painting is an ongoing experiment into topological narratives and horror vacui. Building metaphysical maps of mythological connections and creating a non-linear story that the viewer can observe and build their own journeys in these worlds. This is also my first major painting to be crafted after a long hiatus. It represents not only an overload of the senses, but also my resumed activity into the world of painting, building, crafting and dreaming again. – Sishir Bommakanti
