About the Artwork:

“My work for many years has been focused on creating imaginary organisms which are based on real biology. Using old natural history illustrations for reference, new organisms are created through a series of imaginative mutations and hybridisations. Recently, I have been having a lot of fun using Midjourney, an AI image generator, to create imaginary organisms, using text prompts from biology. This painting is based on one of those images.” – Catriona Secker
