About the Artwork:

“For these artworks I wanted to return to my roots of painting very simple portraits – which is also one of the things I enjoy painting the most. I tried my best to convey the subtly sad expression of two lovers made to part and never meet again. Whether they will end up in two completely different parts of the world, or hang opposite of each other, they will never be able to be together. Even if they are as close as possible, hanging shoulder to shoulder, they will still be divided by frames, and not be able to look at each other.” – Likrot

Likrot is a Norwegian artist, their preferred medium being watercolour. By combining the matteness of watercolour with the sparkle of glitter and shine of metallic, likrot’s paintings achieve another dimension that can only truly be experienced in real life. Always trying to see the beauty in darkness and things often considered ugly, likrot’s work often plays with contrasts, such as between creepy and cute, dark and light.
