About the Artwork:
“For these artworks I took inspiration from the title of the exhibition, “Echo all the Worlds”, and decided to paint a pair of elves. I sometimes get asked if my characters are elves, since I always give them big, beautiful ears, but I never really intend for them to be elves. So this time I decided to travel to another world and actually create elven characters. I also took inspiration from something that’s quite nostalgic to me, Japanese visual kei fashion from the early 2000s, even though it was never really music I listened to. Thus I came up with these two characters. I wonder if they’re in a band together or just fans of the music genre?” – Likrot

Likrot is a Norwegian artist, their preferred medium being watercolour. By combining the matteness of watercolour with the sparkle of glitter and shine of metallic, likrot’s paintings achieve another dimension that can only truly be experienced in real life. Always trying to see the beauty in darkness and things often considered ugly, likrot’s work often plays with contrasts, such as between creepy and cute, dark and light.
