About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Melbourne born artist Kim Evans works primarily in the mediums of Acrylic painting and Graphite drawing. Her detailed, other-worldly imagery is drawn from and explores the unconscious and the rich language of dreams and symbols. Inspired by Nature, Wisdom Traditions and Symbolism, re-occurring themes in her work include the feminine psyche, transformation/metamorphosis and human/animal nature.

Kim’s creative career spans working as an Editorial illustrator from 1990’s to 2012, including works published in Melbourne AGE newspaper, The Bulletin, Motor, Boss, and Superfunds Magazines. She also taught and lectured Illustration at Melbourne Polytechnic (formerly NMIT) during this time.

Simultaneously Kim has been an exhibiting artist for 30+ years. With 2 major group exhibitions in 2003 cementing her art career focus, ‘ BRAVE DESTINY’, at the Williamsburg Art and Historical Center, Brooklyn, New York and the 2003-2005 ‘Fantastic & Visionary Art’ Australian Touring Exhibition, as part of the Collection Art Visionary, to Ballarat Fine Art Gallery, – Riddoch Art Gallery Mt. Gambier, South Australia – TBC Parramatta Heritage Centre, Sydney, – Manning Regional Gallery, NSW-Orange Regional Gallery, NSW- Global Arts Link / Ipswitch Regional Gallery, Queensland.

Kim stepped back from both the illustration industry and Lecturing in 2012 to focus on her painting career.

Kim’s works are held in private collections in Australia and Internationally. Her artworks are published in numerous magazines and books including: 2020, SNAPSHOT Interview: Issue 31 Beautiful Bizarre Magazine, 2018 & 2021 Feature articles in Miroir Magazine, 2018 LEXIKON PHANTASTISCHER KUNSTLERINNEN: Encyclopedia of (Women Artists) Fantastic, Surrealistic, Visionary, Fantasy, and Symbolic art.
