About the Artwork:
“This piece represents our constant search for knowledge and understanding. I tried to represent concepts of direct objectivity such as mathematics and geometric configurations while maintaining an overall feeling that hopefully raises question and curiosities to those who view it. At the center is the name Albireo, which is a binary star system often considered one of the most beautiful stars in the sky. When viewed with the naked eye, it appears as a single star. However, when viewed with a telescope it shows its true shape as a binary system. It is surrounded by Altair, Vega, and Deneb which make up the Summer Triangle and consistent with the patterns surrounding it. The up close view of the honey bee and flower lend themselves as a reminder that soon you should stop and take some time to view the beauty of small life around you.” – DantesDots
About the Artist:
(Artist Bio)
My name is Henry Dante and I am a 23 year old stippling artist from St Paul, Minnesota currently residing in Minneapolis. I have been drawing my entire life, but have been pursuing stippling as my primary medium for about 3 years. I chose this style since attention to small scale detail has always been a very important part of my artwork. The use of incredibly small dots and precise lines creates a nice dichotomy between the physical artwork and many of the themes represented. Most of my work deals directly with the massive contrast in existence throughout this Universe, as well as trying to answer the unanswerable question of what it means to be Human, and a sentient being on this planet. Through sampling works of Renaissance art, scientific concepts, abstract ideology, and the psychedelic experience I hope to create surrealistic, but understandable collages that can hopefully help you reconnect with the natural curiosity for the Earth and the Cosmos that we seem to have forgotten about in modern times.
I have also been pursuing tattooing as a career for some time now, and apprenticed for a time out of the country at Lone Wolf Studio in Bangkok, Thailand. I hope to translate the many things taught to me by my mentor, as well as my passion for art into permanent work someone can always carry with them back home in Minnesota.
