About the Artwork:

“Rebirth, reincarnation, born again, resurrection… however you choose to look at “the afterlife”, assuming you believe there actually is something after this, is what I wanted this piece to be about. People spend a lot of time contemplating what happens next, and though it can be exciting and liberating, it is mostly frightening in my opinion. That compound of emotions is what I wanted to capture in the subject’s expression. Every element is trying to persuade her to move towards this unsettling inevitable enigma, and she is both curious and terrified.” – Amy Minchew

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Amy was born just outside of Atlanta, Georgia in 1986, the second of five children. Her early homeschool experience with its flexibility and versatility allowed her the freedom to explore her creativity under no confines or limitations, and her imagination was fueled by 80’s fantasy films, J.R.R. Tolkien’s writing, and classical music. Her work revolves around the female figure with added elements and influential symbols of her past and present represented by flora, art nouveau ornaments and frames, and mandalas interwoven throughout, demonstrating contrast and balance. Amy’s paintings and drawings have been exhibited worldwide.
