About the Artwork:

The Scales of Justice signify that in order for justice to be had the weight of the evidence for and against an issue should be weighed and considered before issuing a ruling. The Scales of Justice go directly to the heart of law and the duty to consider both sides presented.

“When entering the gates of the next life, your heart is weighed against an ostrich feather determining how your life was lived. In my painting ‘The Final Test’ the heart is balanced against the weight of a snail and butterfly determining how your life has been lived against your harmony with nature. In these uncertain times, with climate concerns, the collapse of ecosystems and the rapid extinction of species at all time high, I thought this an appropriate narrative to explore.” – Drew Mosley

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Drew Mosley forms fantastical narratives inspired by the study of natural history, anthropology, ancient civilizations and social evolution. His works tie together contemporary concerns of collapsing ecosystems, hyper-consumerism, and capitalism in surrealist narratives. Played out across Mosley’s canvases are stories of misguided notions of wealth and social status. In a world with an uncertain future, the characters populating Mosley’s fairy-tale environments offer examples of empathy, community and reverence for nature. Mosley’s overall oeuvre speaks to a desire for a shared existence with greater environmental and social consciousness.
