‘The flare from the blinding white star leveled them to the very dust that created their primordial essence’.
“The Fleet Phase’ was a stream of conscious piece that I created with little reference or definitive vision in mind. I love the idea of turning a rough idea into a work that is driven purely by emotional state and whatever space junk is orbiting your mind in the moment. This piece was particularly inspired by my friend, frequent collaborator, and fellow participating artist, Dusty Ray.” – Brian Serway

My mother was an oil painter and encouraged me to create as soon as I was able to hold a brush. I grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Appalachian foothills of southwest Virginia. It was there that my appreciation for nature, southern folklore, and outer space took root.
