About the Artwork:
“They will not hurt me anymore; their barbed taunts and raw words are no match for ivory sharp teeth, for claws curved like sickle moons. Where there was once weak flesh, now smooth, slinking muscle and sinew stretch. I am mother, protector, warrior. I am tearing, searing death. In the deep, leaf-shadowed loam of the forest, I step into myself and I am reborn.” – Amelia Leonards
About the Artist:
(Artist Bio)
Amelia Royce Leonards is a graduate of Montserrat College of Art, where she spent four years baffling her peers and professors with paintings of goddesses and antlered women. Her work is influenced by her pre-art school archeological studies, folklore, the beauty of ancient myth, and the natural world around us. She can usually be found somewhere deep in the woods, sketching odd creatures and eating chocolate chips.
