“When thinking about the title of this exhibition: familiar strangers, the subconscious comes to mind. A subject that is often discussed in almost all of my works. Along the parallel of ancestry. For me, the subconscious is built from our lives and from genetic and unlived memories. Be for the stories told by my mother and grandparents. Whether for past life dreams. The white butterfly comes to represent this ancestral idea, which leaves a subtle but permanent mark when we pay due attention and respect to those lives that are not ours, but that make us.” – LTG (Ana Novaes)
