(Artist Bio)
Andrew Sloan is a British artist born and raised in East Sussex. He studied Fine Art at Northumbria University in the north of England before settling in Hastings on the southern coast.
Originally a painter working in oil on canvas, he transitioned to pen on paper and then further into tattoo. His work is based on concepts of consciousness, time and mortality, working in ink, chalk, acrylic and ash on paper, linen and skin. He has increasingly used ideas of altered reality whilst taking inspiration from medieval symbolism, esoteric art, nature and sound. Often using organic subject matter to reflect the temporary nature of life and it’s unending regrowth.
