About the Artwork:
“The ‘Unfinished Construction Sites’ are a series about how structures emerge. I have always been obsessed with architecture and structure, and I never pass up a chance to peek through a fence at a new building project. While the entire building is planned and executed by the architect and contractors, the effect on the viewer is one of emergent possibility: what is it and what will it be? Viewing a construction site is then like a seeing the building in the nude, and personally I find them beautiful, confusing, and geometric but wonderfully organic. These drawing attempt to capture some of whimsical playfulness of that possibility.” – Andrew DeGraff
