What does this sweet woolly lamb have to say? Is it worth hearing? Is he a good egg? A bad egg? Does he have egg on his face? And what are these treats that he dreams of? Paska buns? I wonder what is at the end of these rainbows? Perhaps a pot of gold! Or perhaps there is nothing but an end with no more.

(Artist Bio)
Andrea Hooge is an artist working based out of East Vancouver in BC, Canada. She has been featured in five solo shows in Vancouver, and has been showing her work for many years in group shows and as part of an art collective. She earned her BA from the University of the Fraser Valley, where she majored in Psychology and minored in Visual Arts.
Andrea focuses mainly on figurative oil paintings and scratchboards, and while many of her works are on wood or hardboard panels, she also creates unique cutouts that move away from conventional shapes. These have been made to stand alone or to overlap and create larger and more dynamic pieces.
Andrea takes great delight in creating and using personal symbols and objects that draw inspiration from vintage children’s books and toys, while exploring her childhood interpretations of religion, heritage, and family traditions to influence her work. Andrea seeks to draw in an audience by delighting them with storybook scenes and colourful imagery while then allowing her pieces to disturb and to cause some discomfort. She places an emphasis on references to eggs by visualizing egg-related idioms, while also playing around with the idea of hiding “easter eggs,” or inside jokes, surprises, and hidden meanings to create continuity across different mediums and themes within her current, past, and future works.
