About the Artwork:

“Ghosts of Summer is a piece about getting older, which is something that I think about a lot lately. I wanted it to have the dark dreamlike quality of a memory. Memories have a way of changing over time, and it can be easy to romanticize things that happened in the past, especially when you were young.

I wanted to create a very high contrast piece, with an inky indistinct background and a strong focus on the subject. You may remember the weather, but not all the details of where you were, you mainly remember who you were with. It’s important not to dwell too much on the past though.” – Justin O’Neal
