The Dragon, in various cultures around the world, is a legendary mythical creature. In Western cultures Dragons appear in mythological tales since Medieval times as winged, horned and usually breathing fire, whereas in Eastern cultures Dragons are often without wings, four-legged and with high intelligence.

Kirsten Schaap (@kirsketchbook) is an illustrator living and working in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Her work revolves around introspection, darkness, contrast and raw emotion- fear, loss and decay are recurring themes in her work. She mainly works in black-and-white and her work is drawn by hand using a stippling technique, which enables her to bring depth, texture and layers into her work. She is inspired by nature, mythology and science fiction.
