About the Artwork:
“I created this piece while on a trip to The Sierras here in California. The mountains were still covered in deep snow, and the wildflowers were blooming in the desert below. The painting was inspired by the magical feeling of night just before dawn, and the promise of spring. I used a variety of materials — watercolor, oil pastel, and colored pencil, and tried to remain playful in my work, and let the artwork surprise me as it emerged.” – Melissa Lakey
