About the Artwork:
“Determined to always be creative and fearless in my art practice and in life, I always make time to cultivate and nourish the inner child within my soul. Children… they are wise, limitless, uninhibited by the social constructs and inanities of life. They live in the present and move quickly through their emotions and their moments. They are brave, facing challenges, people, and circumstances that they don’t quite understand, but that they nonetheless find themselves in. Think about all the really deeply challenging and frightening moments you had to face as a child… and now think of yourself today. I am not saying life is perfect… but what I am saying is that inner child is what has helped you make it through your life into the present day. That child is the one who speaks up when you’re tired of being put down. It is the one who dances in the middle of a sidewalk out of pure joy. It is the dreamer looking out the window wondering about the world. It is the creative spark that flows through a melodic voice or a paintbrush to a canvas. That inner child is essential, and no matter what life throws, that child never dies.
I have learned to study this closely and apply it to my own way of being as an adult now, and what I have learned is that life is more magical when that child in your soul is burning bright. You begin to fall into alignment with what really matters in your life because you connect to the core of your being.
“The Part of You That Never Dies” is that duality of life we face if we grow old enough… The idea that we become adults but somewhere tucked away in that heart is the Eye who sees the world from the purity and limitlessness of a child. It is a celebration of You.” – Tania Pomales
About the Artist:
(Artist Bio)
NJ based Puerto Rican artist Tania Pomales specializes in dark and surreal works created primarily in oils. As a nod to her colorful and bold heritage, Pomales incorporates bright color palettes into her art in juxtaposition with darker motifs, such as skulls and human anatomical references, to explore themes of life and death and the cyclical nature of the human experience. The importance of mental health and deep self reflection are also fundamental themes in her body of work.
