About the Artwork:
This painting was inspired by the story of an African girl’s attempted escape from an arranged polygamous marriage. Princess Guanya Pau has been betrothed to a man she loathes; her strict mother will not let her marry her true love, Momo. Determined Guanya and her faithful friend, Jassah, run away to seek a land where women are treated respectfully and equally. Along their journey they see their unfortunate countrywomen being mistreated by men, and this furthers their desire to find a place where all believe “woman is as good and great as man, and intended to be his equal.”

Jel Ena is a Serbian born multi-media artist living in her adopted home of Los Angeles. She comes from a family of artists in every field who supported her pursuit of the fine arts.
Jel Ena graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade.
She has been showing in galleries around the world where her work is widely collected. Her darkly erotic visualizations are enchanting, projecting characters with feminine mystique of epic proportions. Jel Ena’s art capture complex emotions and the mythology of desire and color. Her ability to capture flesh and light is remarkable, drawing the viewer always further into her sensual dreamscape.
