About the Artwork:
“I’ve been thinking about triads of women, such as The Fates, The Graeae, Shakespeare’s weird sisters, and the Norns, to name a few. Time and time again, they are depicted weaving the tapestry of time and the natural order of life.
The focus of this drawing is a majestic Moreton Bay Fig Tree from San Diego’s Balboa Park. Although its physical embodiment is a singular tree, its essence transforms into this entwined trio—an ode to the mythical female triads.
This one is for my sisters, Laura and Ellen. We are bound together thru our own unique and intricate threads. My special family of three. And who knows, maybe one day we will end up sharing one eye and a tooth among us?” – Rachael Pease
