“The imagery within my work is realized during the process of painting. I draw from a personal creative style of balance, applying it to an image until I find it complete. The subject matter is simple: animals interacting with a world unknown to them. This world has normal landscape features, as well as newly contrived human additions represented through abstract shapes and patterns.My paintings depict moments of discovery, confusion, and the effort to exist, as the animal protagonist contacts or clashes with the human aspects of their world.” – Andrew MacRae
