“The Hounds of Tindalos were created by writer Frank Belknap Long in the story by the same name released in March 1929. Besides the fact that the story is 90 years old (91 to be exact) is a fascinating tale. These time travelling creatures once you (unwillingly) got their attention by travelling through the ages, will never stop hunting you. Besides the fact that I find these stories incredibly fascinating, the Hounds are also a wonderful metaphor of all things out of our control. These inter dimensional beings as they appear in from of the angled gate of absolute darkness and insanity, while they are totally beyond our comprehension. I found the concept really inspiring and a visual design narrative I strived to create here.” – Máté Jakó

Máté Jakó is a London based award winning illustrator from South-east Hungary. He started a long lasting career in theaters and films as an actor before he turned to illustration to create the stories he wanted to tell. Máté currently works as a freelance illustrator. His client list includes Alexander McQueen, Sideshow Collectibles, Chris Nelson FX, and VVDFX creating concept art/creature design for film & video games, fashion prints, book covers, album covers and limited edition film posters. His work been featured in prestigious publications includidng: Spectrum, Imaginefx, and 3D total-sketching from the imagination.
His unique style entails the always present darkness mixed with peculiar elegance, and 21st century insecurity. His flowing vines and lines are hinting to this underlying passion, and conflict. However the darkest of these works have some sense of peace and reconciliation that stands in contrast with the seeming chaos that inhabits his frames.
