About the Artwork:

“This painting speaks to the conflicting relationship one can have with one’s inner critic, the contrast between its potential as a tool for self-improvement and growth, and the harm it can do if left unchecked. It is an unavoidable part of us, one it is virtually impossible to cut off, an element of ourselves that we need to learn to cohabit with, and hopefully grow to nurture in a healthy and constructive way if we hope to have a more balanced relationship with ourselves as a whole.” – Myriam Tillson

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Myriam Tillson is a French surrealist artist based in the UK. Her work explores the depths of our inner lives – the fears, doubts, and frailties we hide from others; the love and yearning we dare not express. She employs traditional media – primarily acrylic, watercolour, gouache, and inks – to produce figurative pieces with a dream-like quality. A consistent theme in Myriam’s work is our deep connection to the natural world and our experience of the inextricable link between life and death.
