“I love animals. I also have a strange fascination with rats, especially in my work. They are easy to work with because they are small, cute and versatile, but at the same time they evoke fear and anxiety. In this piece, I was hoping to make a visual statement with the repetition of rats.” – Hanna Jaeun

About the Artist:

Hanna Jaeun is a Los Angeles based artist. She received a BFA in Apparel Design at the Rhode Island School of Design. After some soul-searching, she finally decided to pursue her dreams of becoming a painter. She now works with acrylics on wood panel. Drawing inspiration from childhood memories, and her love of animals and horror movies, her work explores themes of alienation, vulnerability, and the yearning to belong.
