About the Artwork:

“The moon has always been fascinating to me. I have always loved the way it shines, like a mysterious guiding light in the sky. The only thing on this earth that I feel has a similar magic is a lighthouse; both give off a guiding light in the darkness. When creating this drawing, I wanted to incorporate these two iconic images together in one piece. I also wanted to somehow express my love for both, and how I long to be able to hold them in a sense; to be as close to them as possible. I imagine that holding both the moon and a lighthouse would be the ultimate dream; to be surrounded by the purest light in the darkest of nights. As a Light Keeper would be to a lighthouse, my eel, Macy, feels as though she is the ‘Moon Keeper’, a protector of the moonlight and all other lights that shine in the night.” – Juliet Schreckinger
