“Phantomia is a deformation of the olfactory hallucination called Phantosmia, characterized by the perception of an odor that does not really exist. This concept penetrated deeply into my mind leading me to relate many other similar hallucinations such as sounds, shapes, colors and tactile sensations that many of us have hallucinated to perceive, but that are part of a completely personal experience.
There are many elements that inspired me during the creation of this work, elements that generated in my different sensations that I slowly unfolded, such as the magical colors of the mandarin fish, or the enigmatic photos of Ren Hang. Each stimulus generated in me a unique and completely intimate experience where the contrast of color, lights and shadows seek to achieve a small and sparkling hallucination in the viewer.” – Christian Orrillo

Christian Orrillo is a self-taught contemporary artist. He was born in Cajamarca, Peru.
His work expresses many personal concepts related with his own fantasy world, where the present, the past and the future coexist. Based in Santiago, Chile, Christian developed his style taking ingredients from many sources, specially the anime and manga culture. His paintings shows beautiful and enigmatic characters, who tries to teleport the viewer to their own universe seducing their eyes. The sea and the creatures from the deep ocean are present in his works, where he can find an infinite variety of colors, contrasts, shapes and textures, organic details that he has tried to emulate on his paintings.
The future of humanity, the power of color and the relation between our senses are constant topics in his digital paintings which are embellished by an iridiscent color palette. Christian is still exploring his own inner world through his art, his fears and obsessions, at the same time as the gate of his technicolor universe is opening.
