About the Artwork:

“The idea of going out of one’s way to make a home in an environment that borders on inhospitable is a longtime interest of mine. A house, which is intended for shelter and is designed for human use, is at odds with the sea and rocks. They’re relics of pre-human time; humanity has its origins there but doesn’t belong there anymore. The choice to live in this environment implies a desire to go back and start again, to reject human history. Art can function as a way to explore these kinds of extremes.” – Matt Schu
