About the Artwork:
“The ouroboros is a symbol used in ancient traditions that depicts a snake eating its own tail. Referring to the eternal repetition of cycles of creation and destruction it symbolises eternity and the soul of the world. In an era plagued with uncertainty like ours my knotted ouroboros is curling up on itself making the course of the world and where it is heading to less clear.” – Sailev
About the Artist:
(Artist Bio)
Enthralled by the beauty of nature, I have spent seven years in Asia where I have been equally confronted with the damages of human activities to the ecosystems. From this duality, I draw a creative force that imbues my paintings with a vision of the natural world that is poetic and alarming at the same time.
On the canvas, my animals are in the grip of torment, haste, ecstasy and dreams. They are icons of the climate crisis. The aesthetic and visions that I developed blur the boundaries between reality and fiction. They are an invitation to a contemplative reflection on nature as I combine symbolism with a precise execution.
I currently live in Normandy, France. My works have been exhibited in Europe, Asia and North America.
