About the Artwork:

“A beautiful and bloodied starlet engages the viewer through a window sewn into her face. Was it the itsy bitsy spider? Or did she sew the stitches herself?” – Colin Verdi

About the Artist:

My name is Colin Verdi, I am an illustrator and artist living and working in Manhattan. I attended NYU for a BA in East Asian Studies and SVA in the MFA Illustration as Visual Essay program. My illustration work has been featured internationally in publications such as Interview Magazine, Rue Morgue, The Protagonist, and MilkxHK mag. I have done editorial illustrations for The Ringer and The New Republic, and my work for the latter has been recognized by The Society of Illustrators for excellence in Editorial illustration in 2020. I create advertisements for Babeland, which have been featured digitally and as banners in-store at all store locations in New York City and Seattle. My work for them has also been recognized by the Society of Illustrators for excellence in Advertising illustration. I have also worked with Bloomsbury Publishing in the UK to create two book covers for their series of books about classic films created in partnership with the British Film Institute. I also do traditionally painted work and have exhibited it at both locations of Gallery Nucleus in Los Angeles and Portland, as well as in galleries in New York City. I also have work hanging in the permanent collection at The Norwood Club in Manhattan. I have also been commissioned to draw live at events, for clients including: The Metropolitan Opera, Kiehl’s, Google, Sony, Diptyque, The Miami Design District, Poster House, Vox Media, StreetEasy, and the McKittrick Hotel.
