About the Artwork:
“The work is inspired by Bulgarian folklore and magic.
The eagle is one of the main symbols in Bulgarian mythology and folklore. It is considered the lord of the skies and a mediator between the Upper and Lower Earth, thus consisting of both opposite beginnings – chthonic and celestial.
He is also considered an important part of shamanism and is even considered the first even shaman in some cultures. The cult toward the eagle is wide spread across many ancient cultures and shamanism as a form of religious practice.
One of the rituals called “kamlanie” is specifically linked to the eagle, as the soul of the shaman transfers to him and then soars the spirit world.” – Simona Ruscheva
