(Artist Bio)
Brett Herman, a native of Boulder County, Colorado, spent a significant portion of his life in California before returning to his home state to continue his artistic journey in a fresh, creative environment. From a young age, he immersed himself in drawing animals and horror characters, influenced by magazines and skateboard art. He remained deeply involved in both music and the arts throughout his childhood.
During his high school years, Brett received a New York Scholastic Art Award, and shortly thereafter, he attended a summer course at the Denver Institute of Art. However, he was disappointed to discover that the course primarily focused on digital work rather than the classical painting techniques he had longed to pursue. Unsure of the path to truly express his creative vision, he packed his bags and moved to California with a close group of friends to pursue a career in heavy metal music. It was here that he unexpectedly found himself drawn into the world of tattooing, beginning his apprenticeship and setting him on a new artistic trajectory.
Today, Brett is a multi-award-winning artist whose creative expression spans various media and styles. He has contributed to the fine art world through numerous paintings and illustrations, including works in animal art, surrealism, abstract, and dark art. Brett has curated several art shows and exhibited his work in over 100 prestigious galleries worldwide. Additionally, he has authored three published art books—The Coloring Book Project, The Coloring Book Project 2, and Sketched Out—and has been featured in a variety of art books and magazines, even co-authoring articles for several publications.
Brett is deeply grateful for the connections he has made with wonderful individuals within and outside the art world. He is honored to have collectors of his work across the globe and appreciates the support that allows him to continue creating. A huge supporter of other fine artists and toy makers, he spends a significant portion of his art income collecting pieces from like-minded creators. As he likes to say, your support helps him feed his pet squirrels and two ill-behaved Chihuahuas, stay outfitted in the freshest metal apparel, and sustain his habits of nugs, chillin’, and grindage.
