About the Artwork:

Using motifs of skulls, portraits and natural elements. I tell stories of the interweaving of people and their environment by creating powerful reminders of the cyclical nature of life and death, echoing themes of mortality, renewal, and the urgent need for environmental stewardship. Paired with birds, flowers, and other organic forms, these images create a dialogue between decay and regrowth, exploring how destruction can often be a precursor to transformation. – Nico Cathcart

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Nico Cathcart is a contemporary muralist and multidisciplinary artist whose work explores themes of resilience, environmentalism, and the intricate balance between the natural and urban worlds. Born in Toronto, Canada, she currently lives in Richmond, Virginia. She is currently a part of the all Femme paint crew- Few and Far Women.

Cathcart uses her work to engage communities and spark conversations about pressing social and ecological issues. Her signature skull motifs blend elements of decay and renewal to evoke a sense of interconnectedness and transformation and serve as poignant reminders of mortality and the cycles of life, while her depictions of flora and fauna symbolize adaptability and survival in changing environments.
