About the Artwork:
“When I was a child it was always thrilling to discover an uprooted tree. It turned into a magical tangled cave to play beneath. My mind traveled underground and wondered what those roots looked like, how they connected and grew. As an adult, I was completely spellbound when I read that trees do in fact communicate chemically underground through an immense web of fungi. At the core lie old ‘Mother Trees’ that nurture their kin and sustain the forest even in their deaths. I wonder what memories the forest holds.” – Rachael Pease
