About the Artwork:

“Lively potted yellow flowers appear delicately staged in an unfit, icy environment. Meanwhile, mysterious, darting eyes menacingly float overhead in a two-dimensional panel. The interplay between the scarce imagery creates a heavy sense of tension within the tight picture plane. Few and Far Between presents an imaginative and dreamlike corner of a world, devoid of logic, that seemingly expands into a bigger picture.” – Lauren Genovese

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Lauren Genovese (b. 1995, Westchester, NY) is a Baltimore-based artist and illustrator. She received her BFA in painting with a concentration in illustration from The Maryland Institute College Of Art in 2017. Her work features deceptively seductive colors and forms, along with adopted and repurposed imagery from vintage animation and antique toys. Lauren works with acrylic paint and drawing materials to build playful, unusual worlds with seemingly little logic.
