“THE BRIGHT SIDE is a snapshot inspired by the first impression I had when I came upon Matilija Poppies while on a walk through the San Francisco streets. As I was passing by the long bouncing stalks I was sure I had just seen a gorgeous ‘fried egg flower’. I have these pareidolia moments often and they serve as inspiration for many of my art scenes; always preferring to realize my imaginary scene over the actual.” – J. L. King

Jennifer L. King was born into a large artistic family in San Francisco, California. Her early exposure to this lifestyle may have quelled early professional pursuits in the arts though never her practice. Ultimately, and many milestones and mediums later, she committed to oil painting with sharp focus detail becoming a lifelong endeavor. She spotlights ordinary objects in extraordinary perspectives with a blend of trompe l’ceil techniques and surreal elements. King practices her art professionally from her studio in San Francisco, California.
