About the Artwork:

“This little painting continues my ‘Microcritter’ series which I began last year. I love making tiny little characters based off something I spot when I’m looking at old scientific illustrations of invertebrates, or going through my sketchbook. It might just be a section of an organism, or an interesting shape that provides the starting point, and I’ll add or change whatever comes to mind as the critter is created. These are a fun break from more complex compositions, and allow me the freedom to play with smaller forms without having to work them into something bigger.” – Catriona Secker
